Planting Trees

 

Wow!  What a task we have as parents.  Scripture is so clear on how HUGE this responsibility is.  Children are a blessing from the Lord, a gift.  But one that we should not  take lightly.  Oh how well Andrew Peterson expresses this great task in his song Planting Trees.  Lord, you have given us all that we need to fulfill this role.  May we, daily, claim this truth!  Click here to read all Planting Trees posts.

Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord,
the fruit of the womb a reward.
Like arrows in the hand of a warrior
are the children[a] of one’s youth.
Blessed is the man
who fills his quiver with them!
He shall not be put to shame
when he speaks with his enemies in the gate.
Psalms 127:3-5

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.  You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.   Deuteronomy 6: 4-9
Children, obey your parents in the Lord,

but bring them up in the discipline and 
instruction of the Lord.
